In ceramics class were tasked with creating tiles that show things we enjoy, so for both of the tiles I have created I used things that link to skateboarding. For the tile assignment I have created 2 tiles. One being my favorite image taken by Lance Silber, who works with the Braille YouTube channel to create videos on how to skateboard. Lance is the filmer and editor for the channel and ocaisannly takes photos.

Why I chose it:
For my first tile I used what could possibly be the most iconic photo ever taken on the Braille YouTube channel (photo linked here). I don't have a picture from before the glazeing was done, but while glazing I decided to use a lighter blue on the background.
Process: for this tile I decided i wanted to carve out the background of the tile so the person and skateboard are popping out of the tile. Once I had carved out the background it went on to be fired. After it had been fired I decided to glaze it a little different than to original image. I used a lighter blue on the background and a black on the skater and skateboard.

After I finished that tile I decided to go on and make another tile but I was struggling with what to put on it. To figure out what I was going to engrave int the slab I went through what I liked and chose to do the thrasher logo (linked here). I couldn't find much on the Thrasher logo other than it was first a drawing and then became printed on the monthly Thrasher magazines (Thrasher website linked here).

After I did this project I started to think about how I participate in art everyday. How I take pictures and film videos and also do my drawing homework or even just drawing class. I really like art and how i am helping and growing the subject.
