Monster pot reflection
Our assignment was to create a pinch pot using white clay. My plan was to make a small pot with eyes coming out of the top. After it started drying it began to crack and crumble.I used a plastic knife to score the clay and used slip to attach the eyes. After it was bone dry I was working on it and the eyes fell off. At this point I was to angry to make new eyes, so I painted eyes on using underglaze. The teeth were staying on well and still haven't broke off. I decided to do another pinch pot since i new what not to do. I made my second pot using a different clay that didn't dry as fast, so it didn't crack.
Once I had made my new pot I added eyes coming out of the top, but I thought it looked bare. I thought about what I wanted it to be, and I decided I wanted it to be a grandfather. I didn't add teeth but I added a pair of glasses. I really liked the way it was looking so I moved on to glazing.
I went over what colors I wanted to use and I wanted to glasses to pop, so I decided to body was going to be yellow and the glasses were going to be red. It went in the kiln for the second time and wen it came out it was perfect. It was complete.
